Alabama NAACP to Host Mayors and Ministers Meeting
The Alabama State Conference of the NAACP is planning to host a Mayors and Ministers Forum during the 52nd Anniversary of the Selma to Montgomery Bridge Crossing Event. The forum will be held Friday, March 3rd, 2017 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Clinton Chapel AME Zion Church, located at 615 Green Street, Selma Al.

The purpose of the meeting is to bring Mayors and Ministers together to discuss public issues which have affected, have an effect, and even, in fact infected our lives...

The topic of discussion is The Human Factor. The idea is to bring local government and laypeople together to have a discussion on how we REALLY see each other vs how we SHOULD see other. When the gatekeepers of the city work together and see each other as humans rather than a color, subgroups or classes of people, we begin to heal our cities within and implement programs to bring people together rather than divide.

Some issues that affect our cities include; race and policing; refugees and sanctuary cities; immigration and keeping families together rather than tearing them apart; how we treat our LGBT Communities.

These and other issues continue to plague our communities. Now is the time for strong collective leadership. Remember: Silence gives permission. Let's not be silent! The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, which will start promptly at 11:00 am. Light refreshments will be served.
